The agenda for this Thursday's City Council meeting includes a new business park off Highway 2 and a proposal for the old Capitol Theatre site.
WOODSTOCK - A new business park is in the works for the City of Woodstock.
It would be located on Highway 2, behind the Oxford Grill in the east end of the city.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says the proposal highlights nine blocks of industrial commercial property and three different entrance points.
"Part of the proposal right now, you're going to see it because it's going to go public tonight, is a roundabout at Highway 2 and County Road 55 or 53, a lot of people still consider it to be Highway 53, by Eastwood of course is where we are talking about."
Acchione says there would also be an entrance off Blandford Road, and another road into the park east off Highway 2.
Council will look over the proposal during this Thursday's council meeting. If it receives approval, Oxford County Council will still have to sign off on it before any work can begin.
Woodstock City Council will also be looking over a proposal for the old Capitol Theatre site on Dundas Street this week. It's for an eight-storey apartment building with 36 affordable and market-rate units.
Acchione says the first two floors of the buildings would be dedicated to parking.
"I've seen the drawings and it kind of looks like a commercial development because of the parking spaces and everything else. I think they have done a great job that's going to incorporate well."
Another big item on the City Council agenda would be the construction tender for the South Gate Centre expansion project. Acchione says the the project came under budget, with a tender of $7,178,890 including HST.
This Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page. You can also find the meeting agenda online here.
