During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Jerry Acchione talked about two new boundary adjustments that could be on the horizon for Woodstock, Norwich Township, and East Zorra-Tavistock.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is going to explore potential boundary adjustments with Norwich Township and East Zorra-Tavistock.
This comes after Mayor Jerry Acchione met with some of the chiefs of staff for several provincial ministers last week. He says the Friendly City received a failing grade in terms of incoming land.
"In 2020, the province put out a provincial policy that you must have 20 years of land for future growth, but we've got zero!"
That being said, Woodstock is doing very well working with the lands already within the city.
"They couldn't say enough about how much we have been infilling and doing all of the right things even higher than provincial averages. Some projects are 64 percent of medium to high density in these new subdivisions. So that was really brought up and they're really ecstatic about it."
During this Thursday's meeting, City Council will form two different boundary adjustment committees. One committee will approach Norwich Township and the other will approach East Zorra-Tavistock. Acchione says this is step one of a multi-year process that will finish before his first term as Mayor ends in 2026.
This Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and you can find the agenda online here. You can also livestream the meeting on the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also discussed the following:
- Talks surrounding upcoming events during Thursday's Council meeting.
- Taco Bell coming to Woodstock and what the next steps are.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs chances of winning the Stanley Cup this season.
