CANADA - R&B singer Jully Black is turning heads after a lyric change during O Canada.
The Toronto born signer was asked to perform the national anthem NBA All-Star game in Salt Lake City. She buzzed the audience with the first line of the anthem, changing the lyrics from "Our home and native land" to "Our home on native land."
As the discussion quickly evolved on social media, Black reached out to TSN about the change. She said that when she discovered that she will be signing at the NBA game, she reached out to Indigenous friends and asked them the best way to handle the change.

The English-language O' Canada lyrics have been legally revised three times. The most recent change to the lyrics was back in 2018 when they changed the line "In all thy sons command" to "In all of us command" to combat the gender specific line. The French lyrics remain unaltered.
