Kelly Cowell dedicated over 10 years or her life to the Canadian Red Cross and now she's running for the Ward 6 council seat in South-West Oxford.
SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - A retired member of the Canadian Red Cross is running for a council seat in South-West Oxford.
Kelly Cowell looking to become the next Ward 6 councillor.
She would like to address volunteer firefighter recruitment and retention is she's voted in this fall.
"I think there may be some ways to ask some questions, do some more research to figure out how that can be smoothed out so everybody can be happy."
Cowell adds all volunteers are an essential part of the community and they need to be appreciated.
She says the proposed landfill is also a big issue.
"There's a lot of work still to be done around the landfill. I think some loud voices are needed to help with that to find what can be done to stop that and how we can all work together to prevent that from happening."
Cowell dedicated over 10 years of her life to the Canadian Red Cross. She was born and raised in Oxford County, and has been living in South-West Oxford for the last 10 years with her husband.
