There is going to be a special screening of a Halloween movie at Theatre Woodstock on Halloween.
WOODSTOCK - There will be a special movie screening at Theatre Woodstock.
Leatherbound is about a deaf teenage boy named Dearan looking for connection and finds it in a leatherbound journal sold to him by a salesperson at a Halloween Fair. Director, Michael J Doyle says the audience should be 14 plus.
"This is a very light horror film. It's not torturous, or it's not super gruesome. It's just a delightfully, spooky horror film."
It was a self-funded project inspired by silent cinema, a love of horror, and the experience of living with a disability. Concept work started in July 2020 and was shot in the fall of 2023. The cast and crew are local to southern Ontario—the majority from London and the surrounding area—and the film is a labour of love by everyone involved. Doyle says the film has a big message.
"In the first half of the film, we are driving the point home of how this disability sort of creates this isolation between our protagonist and the rest of the world."
The screening will take place on October 31st and begin at 7:30 and you can get tickets on the Theatre Woodstock website. The cost per ticket is $15.
