They're skills that could save a life. The Canadian Red Cross is encouraging people to get First Aid training, or to update their certification. March is Red Cross month, and they're offering a buy-one-get-one half-off for first aid courses this month. Melanie Oepkes with the First Aid Department tells Heart FM you never know when you'll need to administer First Aid. "To have it at home...whether it's your kids or a family member, or whether it's someone on the street. It's always handy to have." It's a two-day course that is good for 3-years and the Red Cross in Oxford County runs them 4-5 times a month, according to Oepkes. "We also run courses in Stratford, London and St. Thomas. We pretty much have courses all the time. For a lot of the bigger companies (if there are enough numbers), we will even run private courses, so we will come to them." You can learn more by stopping in at the Red Cross Branch at 77 Finkle St., or by calling 519-539-0265 or 1-866-280-1735.
