WOODSTOCK/TILLSONBURG - The County of Oxford has officially named Mark Dager as the Woodingford Lodge Director and Long Term Care Administrator.
Dager has been serving as the acting director for the past year. CAO for the County Peter Crockett made the announcement last week in a press release stating, through the recruitment process, and his acting tenure, Mark has clearly demonstrated his capabilities to lead Woodingford Lodge as our director and long term care administrator.
"Mark has dedicated himself to the health/mental well being and best care practices of our residents and, by extension, for their families and our community at large. Mark joined Oxford County as a registered practical nurse in 1998; served as the supervisor of Behavioural Supports Ontario; and has recently completed the Long Term Care Administrator Leadership Program. Mark has also been an active participant with the Oxford Ontario Health Team Coordinating Committee and has demonstrated leadership in the development, advocacy and delivery of the innovative Family Transition Program pilot, which is creating provincial interest and has exposed Oxford to national and international peers on multiple occasions."
Dager is excited to accept the position and looks forward to tackling the challenges facing long term care homes.
"The challenges as a sector for Long Term Care, we often have heard conversations provincially about shortages for Personal Support Workers, we pride ourselves within Woodingford Lodge and the County of Oxford in being very proactive, and making sure that before the problem develops, we look to have solutions in place. So part of those solutions, will see us being involved in the Provincial task force for human resource staffing for Personal Support Workers and how we make sure that we don't run into the problems that other long term care homes across the Province are having, so those become the biggest challenges, making sure we continue and offer the care that we have been doing to the same standards and quality but making sure we have the staff to that and the qualified staff to do that as well."
Dagers says he looks forward to this opportunity.
"I have had the opportunity to oversee the operations of Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock and their satellites in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg. It has given me the opportunity to work very collaboratively with our team members and the staff and the families and the residents of course to make sure we are meeting their needs accordingly."
