Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is placing the blame on Caterpillar for a lack of progress to end the lockout at Electro-Motive in London. McGuinty says Ontario has fair labour laws and a history of respect between employers and workers. But he says the American owners of Electro-Motive are failing to live up to those expectations. McGuinty did not specifically mention Caterpillar by name in his speech to the London Chamber of Commerce today, but he urged the company to show some flexibility and return to the bargaining table. Caterpillar locked out about 450 Canadian employees at the London Plant on January 1st, demanding pay cuts of up to 50 per cent.
