Measles Cases Continue to Spread

Ontario has reported 470 measles cases since October, and 223 of them are in the Southwestern Public Health region.

ONTARIO - Public Health Ontario has released its latest report on the measles outbreak.

It says 470 measles cases have been reported since October, which in an increase of 120 cases since the last report was released on March 14th.

The Southwestern Public Health unit accounts for 223 of the measles cases, an increase of 42 cases since the last report. The cases in Oxford Elgin and Middlesex represent 47.4 percent of all the cases in the province right now.

Thirty-four people have been hospitalized across Ontario and two of them are in intensive care. Officials say the majority of the people hospitalized are unvaccinated kids, including one of the ICU patients.
