Kyle Handsaeme and Darren Young will be working behind the bench this season for the Woodstock Navy Vets.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets have rounded out their coaching staff for the upcoming season.
On Tuesday night they announced their new assistant coaches who will work under new head coach Matt Paton. Kyle Handsaeme and Darren Young will be working behind the bench this season.
Handsaeme was raised in Otterville and lives in Woodstock.
He played junior hockey in Brantford AAA for 3 years and played Junior B hockey with the St. Thomas Stars, Waterloo Siskins and was a Cherry Cup Champion with the Listowel Cyclones. After Junior hockey Handsaeme played in the WOAA Senior League as a member of both the Palmerston 81's and the Tillsonburg Thunder. In the years since, Kyle has coached for 5 seasons within the Woodstock Minor Hockey Association and has served as the team's fitness coach for the past two seasons as well.
Young grew up playing hockey in the Woodstock system. He also played for the Brantford AAA squad and played for St. Mary's in Jr B and the Huntsville Otters in Jr A. Young also played post secondary hockey at Morrisville State College and spent his first three years of university there. He would eventually transfer to Buffalo State for his senior year.
