The RCMP and CRTC are warning of two new telephone scams. The RCMP have received reports of people getting a call from someone claiming to be from the Mounties' integrated technical crime unit. The caller says the resident's computer has been compromised and asks for money to fix the problem. The CRTC is also warning of a scam involving an unknown person claiming to be with the National Do Not Call List. The person tells residents they must re-register with the service and divulge personal information to be re-added to the list. In both of these instances the best course of action is to simply hang up the phone.
