The new playground equipment at Glendale Park will include swings, slides, sound activities and a zipline.
TILLSONBURG - The Town of Tillsonburg is going to install new playground equipment at Glendale Park.
Interim Director of Education Chris Baird says the Town has allocated just over $65,000 in the budget for the new equipment.
“The new playground will be nature-themed with multiple climbing structures, a multiperson swing and zip line structure, as well as slides and sound activities.”
The new playground equipment should be ready for the Spring of 2021. Baird says they will start removing the old equipment at the end of this year.
"The playground is designed to be universally accessible to all children between the ages of 5 and 12, including those with special needs. While several companies were considered for the project, the winning proposal came from PlayPower LT Canada Inc. The company, located in Paris, Ontario, specializes in commercial play equipment Council approved the $65,253.40 expenditure at its November 9 regular meeting. “
The existing swings in the park will remain as they were installed a few years ago, but everything else will be new.
Mayor Stephen Molnar says the Town is excited to see this project move forward.
“The Town is committed to supporting the growth and development of all children. At this time, it’s so important for families to have opportunities for outdoor recreation.”
The Glendale Park project is part of the Town’s annual playground replacement program, a plan to see all playgrounds in the community upgraded over time with safer, more accessible equipment. Glendale Park is located at the intersection of Christie Street and Allen Street.
