The latest Heart FM News Poll asks, do you agree with the Canada Industrial Relations Board's decision to issue a return to work order to end the Canada Post strike?
CANADA - It's back to work for the 55,000 postal workers who were on strike.
Canada Post service resumes today after the Canada Industrial Relations Board issued a back-to-work order over the weekend. It said the negotiations between the Crown corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers were at an impasse and a deal was not doable by the end of the year. The goal is to have a new deal figured out in the New Year.
The strike caused several mail and parcel backlogs over the busy holiday season. The Salvation Army also revealed that it's short $9 million in donations compared to last year because it received two-thirds of its donations by mail.
The union says the back-to-work order tramples on worker's rights to bargain and strike.
