
For the sixth day in a row, Southwestern Public Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19. We currently have 10 active cases in the region and two people remain in the ICU with the virus.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - For the sixth day in a row, Southwestern Public Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19.
They also confirmed two new recoveries this morning, meaning we only have 10 active cases of the virus in the region. We currently have 2 active cases in Oxford County, all of them are in Woodstock.
Here is the complete breakdown of active cases right now according to Southwestern Public Health:
Aylmer - 5
Bayham - 3
Woodstock - 2
With the active cases, 6 were caused by close contact, 2 from getting it at the workplace, 1 was from travel and 1 is still unknown.
To date we have had four institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. All four are listed as resolved. 5 people from the region have died from the virus and right now we have two people in the ICU.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic. Right now we have 2 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with the virus and both are in the ICU.
