People in Woodstock will not be paying more for public transit in 2021.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is sticking with the status quo when it comes to transit fares this year.
City Staff had recommended a fare increase, which hasn't happened in the City since 2016. Staff proposed increasing the monthly rates by $6 and the single cash rides by a quarter. They also called for small increases to the Han-D-Ride and group pass.
Council decided that now was not a good time to be asking residents to pay more for public transit. The motion was defeated during the budget deliberations.
The City did decide to expand transit service to extend route 4 to serve the areas further east. This will add 15 minutes to route 4. The City is also adding an additional route to serve the expanding area in the north end of the City.
