NORFOLK COUNTY - You should not be calling 911 if you have a raccoon complaint.
Someone called Norfolk OPP after they spotted a raccoon in their driveway Thursday afternoon and this is not the first time the police service has received a call like this.
If you have a problem with a raccoon on your property, you should call a private animal removal service.
Raccoons are mostly nocturnal and a lot of people believe that a racoon may be sick or have rabies if it is spotted during the daylight hours. Police say this is just a myth, adding raccoons will come out during the day every once it a while. It's usually whenever there is a food source available or if someone or something scared them out of their daytime sleeping spot.
