Norwich T'N'T Pull Returns for 15th Year

It's the largest fundraiser for the Optimist Club of Norwich and District.

NORWICH TOWNSHIP - You'll be able to hear the engines roaring throughout Norwich this weekend with the return of the Norwich T'N'T Pull.

It will take over the Rettie Farm tomorrow and on Saturday, located just north of Norwich at the corner of Highway 59 and Evergreen Street.

Sanctioned pullers with the Ontario Truck and Tractor Pull Association (OTTPA) will hit the track both days and mini tractors with the Big Creek Tractor Pullers Association will be there on Saturday.

Media and Sponsorship Chair Dave Nash says the farm classes will also hit the track on Saturday so that you might spot some familiar faces.

"A lot of the people who register are from the area. They're bringing their farm tractors out for the different weight classes. The row croppers with the lovely V wheels at the front of them will go down the track and they will have their front ends up in the air."

There's also going to be a kids' zone and a vendor market on the Saturday, plus live music outside the 19-plus beer garden both nights.

A free shuttle service will be offered on both nights to make sure everyone gets home safely. Buses will leave for Norwich, Burgessville, Otterville, and Woodstock at 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.

This is the 15th year for the Norwich T'N'T Pull, and Nash says it's the largest fundraiser for the Optimist Club of Norwich and District.

"The Optimist Club donates over $60,000 each year to the local Norwich and District area. Recently we've pledged money towards putting covers on baseball diamond number two at the Norwich Arena. It's a pretty big undertaking, but we're more than happy to donate to that as well as all of your minor sports to help keep the cost down for parents."

The daily admission is $25 for adults (ages 13+), $7 for kids, and free for kids under four years old. Weekend passes cost $40 for adults and $10 for kids.

The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow with OTTPA pullers hitting the track at 6:00 p.m. An AC/DC cover band will hit the stage immediately after the pull and everything will shut down by 1:00 a.m.

As for Saturday, the gates will open at 9:00 a.m. and some of the non-circuit farm tractors will hit the track at 10:00 a.m. The Big Creek mini tractors will begin at 12:00 p.m. before the last of the non-circuit farm classes get underway at 1:00 p.m. There will be a break in the action for track maintenance at 4:00 p.m. before the OTTPA pullers return at 6:00 p.m. Country rock band 8 Second Ride will hit the stage following the pull that evening.

Information regarding possible weather-related delays or cancellations will be posted to the Norwich T'N'T Pull Facebook and Instagram pages. More information regarding the Norwich TNT Pull can also be found online here.

Dave Nash stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday August 13th. You can listen to the full interview below:
