NORWICH - A new sidewalk policy has been given the green light by Norwich Township Council.
The policy will act as a checklist developers will look to whenever they need to construct new sidewalks in the townshi
Public Works Manager Marty Lenaers tells Heart FM the policy will help developers finish their construction projects sooner rather than later.
"Right now they bring plans to us, we review them and say 'we don't like this, we like this, you can't do this, you can't do that.' If they knew all of those rules in the beginning it would really expedite the whole process."
Lenaers says developers will only be allowed to install a sidewalk on one side of new roads in low traffic areas.
"Where we maybe don't need sidewalks on both sides of the road we're going with one side of the road only and that's just lower cost for winter maitenence and future replacement."
Lenars adds the policy will also help make construction more consistant throughout the township.
