OPP released their stats from Operation Northern Spotlight, an initiative against human trafficking.
OXFORD COUNTY - OPP have released their stats from Operation Northern Spotlight, a province wide initiative against human trafficking.
OPP, Woodstock Police and officers from 45 other services spoke with 198 people, in hopes to identifying those being exploited.
Inspector Tina Chalk says they managed to rescue six people in the end.
"Out of those six cases, there were five cases where charges were laid. In one of those cases two of those victims were under the age of 15."
Officers charged 12 people with 21 offences.
Chalk says human trafficking can happen in anywhere, not just the big cities.
"Anywhere there are hotels, motels and places where there is a demand there will be human trafficking."
Chalk adds the internet makes it easier traffickers to lure people into the sex trade.
