Oxford Animal Rescue Prepares for End of Summer

The Oxford County Animal Rescue will be attending Pawlooza in London and a Pooch Plunge in Ingersoll.

OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Animal Rescue is going to be quite busy over the next few weeks as summer comes to a close.

It will be attending Pawlooza at the Plunkett Estate in London on Saturday August 17th, where over 50,000 people and 10,000 dogs are expected to attend.

The Town of Ingersoll will also be hosting a Pooch Plunge fundraiser for the Oxford County Animal Rescue. Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes says that will be taking place at the Victoria Park Community Centre in Ingersoll on Sunday August 25th.

"They will lower the chlorine levels, have sort of a last hurrah, and they're collecting donations for us."

It runs from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. that day and there will be no humans allowed in the water during the event due to the lower levels of chlorine in the water.

During her monthly interview on the Heart FM morning show, Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes also reminded everyone about the dangers of leaving a pet in a hot vehicle.

"We all know that as soon as we get in a car we want to roll down the windows right away, now imagine that while wearing a parka. It just takes a second and that's something that you need to be calling 911 for and having the police come so they can extricate that poor pooch from the car."

She says a dog can only have an internal temperature of 40 degrees for a few minutes before it starts to experience brain damage and passes away.

Holmes called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday August 9th. You can listen to the full interview below:
