Oxford County Council has signed off on a Business Plan and Budget for 2024 that's worth $349.5 million.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has approved a $349.5 million business plan and budget for 2024.
When you break it down, $245.9 million is in the operating budget and the capital plan consists of $103.6 million.
The capital plan includes $14.5 million to fix up bridges and culverts on Oxford County roads, $4.5 million for expanding the Bowerhill booster pumping station for water services in Woodstock, and $3.75 million to expand the Lansdowne wastewater pumping station in Woodstock.
It also includes $2.1 million to expand transitional housing, $1.72 million for maintenance/upgrades at social housing sites, and $1.23 million to replace remaining cast iron water pipelines in Ingersoll.
Council has also approved a tax levy of $82.6 million, which is a 16.7 percent increase compared to this year. This works out to another $11.8 million, and officials say about $7.7 million of that increase is due to a higher demand for municipal services due to population growth during the pandemic.
We will be speaking with Warden Marcus Ryan later this morning.
