Oxford County Council will officially start a new term tonight with their inaugural meeting.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County Council will have their inaugural meeting tonight.
Council will officially be sworn in and they will elect a Warden for the next four year team. Current Warden David Mayberry explains the process.
"The Warden will be elected for four years by the members of council. Anyone can put their name forward tonight, they need someone to nominate them and the vote is done in a public way, each councillor will have to state who they are voting for."
Mayberry says once they have the people nominated they will go through a couple of rounds of voting.
"You go through a number of rounds until one candidate has a majority of six votes, if there is a tie, five votes each, then the names will get tossed into a hat and fate will decide who the next Warden is."
Oxford County council will welcome two new faces this year with Marcus Ryan from Zorra Township and Mark Peterson of Blandford Blenheim. They will also elect a Deputy Warden on Tuesday night.
