OXFORD COUNTY - Residents of Oxford County can now access information about disaster planning online. The website Oxford72hours.ca officially launches May 3rd and caters to all eight municipalities in the County. Residents can find information on how to plan for a disaster such as power outages, weather events, human health risk and explosions, on the site. According to Supervisor of Emergency Management Oxford County Dianne Marshall, the information on disaster planning was only available through print resources.
"The website provides a lot of online tools for individuals and families to better prepare for emergencies...so we just felt that this was an important opportunity to bring this really important information closer to home through the website."
Marshall is encouraging residents to refer to the site when it comes to disaster planning.
"What we have on that website that I think will be really important to the residents of Oxford County is that you will find not only online tools that you can download and print to help you prepare for an emergency or disaster but there's also links to your local municipality."
The site advises residents to prepare a kit that could help you survive a disaster for three days. There are a number of print materials available on the website including an emergency kit checklist, farm and livestock emergency plan and a guide for people with disabilities.
