A pair of positions in Oxford County will see new faces, as the current employees move on.
OXFORD COUNTY - The staff for Oxford County will be seeing new faces.
A pair of Directors are leaving their positions, causing the County to fill those spots. Chief Administrative Officer, Ben Addley speaks to the first person leaving the staff.
"Our Director of Planning, Gord Hough after almost 24 years is retiring. His last time in the office is actually the end of this month."
Addley says Hough gave the County lots of notice and they have been able to work on getting the position filled. The posting is closed and the County is reviewing the applications they received. Addley mentions that interviews will start within the next week, and they hope to have a candidate in place before Hough leaves.
Next, Addley speaks to the other position that will need to be filled.
"Our Director for Public Works, David Simpson has a new career opportunity with I would say a larger Southwestern Ontario municipality to take on a very significant role for them."
Warden of Oxford County, Marcus Ryan speaks to Hough and Simpson's roles during their careers.
"Gord Hough, the longtime chief planner for community planning is retiring, it is not a huge surprise, Gord has not kept it a secret. David Simpson is the Director of Public Works. David is moving on to a role at the City of Windsor. It is a promotion for him and career development. I am sad to see him go as the Warden of Oxford County, but as a person, he is moving on to a job that is part of his career path, and good for him."
Addley mentions the posting for the Director of Public Works might take some time to go up, and they might have to look at using an acting Director until the right time comes to post the job.
