The Oxford Lions Club is spreading good will with a combined total donation of $4 000 dollars to two local charities in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - Thanks to the Oxford Lions Club, two charities are getting a big boost.
President of the Lions Club Steve Newton says they are making two $2 000 dollar donations. "Money's coming from the comedy music show that we put on each year. This was done in May of this year and the money is going to the Wellington Animal Hospital Rescue Relief Fund and Sakura House. "
Fund Development Coordinator with VON Oxford Kyra McNamara says it's great to see this kind of good will spread around. "We are just one of many valuable charities that really do, you know, make our community a wonderful place to live. So we're really thrilled to be sharing this with another group that can really benefit from the money, and we'll use it wisely, but it's great to see there are other charities as well getting needed support." VON will be using the money to help cover the operation costs at Sakura House which offers free 24 hour end-of-life care.
The Wellington Animal Hospital will also be putting their share to good use. Veterinarian Doctor Liz Dennis says this money will go a long way to helping those who cannot help themselves. "It's going to be used to help the rescue animals that come through. So we see a lot of sick and injured animals that come through our local pound. So we use that money to rehabilitate them when they don't have owners. We amputate legs if that has to happen, fix infections, deal with pain. So it's going to go towards helping a lot of animals over the next year."
