Members of York University’s Renewable Energy Academy will tour Oxford County to learn more about the successful renewable energy projects in the area.
OXFORDCOUNTY - YorkUniversity's RenewableEnergyAcademy is coming to OxfordCounty.
The Academy brings together some of the brightest minds who want to become leaders in the energy field.
Director Jose Etchverry says they will have a busy schedule this week; starting today and wrapping up on Friday June 23rd.
"We will start at YorkUniversity on the Monday and Tuesday where people are going to learn how to design renewable energy projects and energy efficiency projects. Then we'll move to OxfordCounty where there are a number of world class projects including the Gunn's Hill Wind Farm that is probably the best of its kind in Canada."
OxfordCounty is Ontario's first community to commit to achieving 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.
Etchverry believes these renewable energy efforts have really put OxfordCounty on the map.
"By OxfordCounty becoming a pioneer in the energy revolution, you're positioning the county in a world scenario where investment is looking for places where things have been done well and you can say OxfordCounty is doing things very well."
The Academy will also attend the WoodstockArtGallery Thursday evening, for a Pecha Kucha about renewable energy and climate change efforts from around the world. The public event will get underway at 7pm.
It's a packed agenda with concept drawings for Museum Square, the results of an integrity commissioners report, and the results from a recent recreation study.
