Ingersoll Town Council addressed parking concerns in the Downtown core. People are doing extended parking in front of businesses who are trying to stay open by offering pickup.
INGERSOLL - Looking out for your brother could include where you park your car in Ingersoll.
Town Council was looking at ways to limit long term parking to help businesses that are still operating downtown. Council heard about cars being parked in the same spot for most of the day. The major offenders are tenants living above the stores and employees. Mayor Ted Comiskey says we have to be better than this.
"People right now, have to stand up, plant there feet on the ground and give their head a share. We are in a time frame that is totally new to everyone, tenants and employee's, do not park on the main street in front of stores that need that space for pickup, because people cannot go into stores right now to pick them up themselves."
Council decided to send a letter to all downtown businesses and tenants asking them to not park long term. Businesses can also mark off two parking spots in front of their stores to make it easier to pick up orders.
