The Vets, the Merchants, and the Braves celebrated a win and suffered a loss over the weekend. The Trojans won both of their games.
PJHL - It was a mixed weekend for Oxford County's Junior C hockey teams.
The Woodstock Navy Vets celebrated a 5-3 victory over the Paris Titans in their big return to Southwood Arena on Friday. Brodie Kearns, Thomas Guidolin, and Diego Sabino scored for Woodstock and Tyler Bouck finished the game with 20 saves.
However, the Vets also suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Applejacks in Wellesley yesterday. Thomas Guidolin scored early in the third periods to tie the game for Woodstock, but it wasn't enough in the end. Scott Rodrigue recorded 39 saves for the Vets.
The Norwich Merchants were shutout by the New Hamburg Firbirds 3-0 at Nor-Del Arena Friday night, but they bounced back with a 5-2 win over the Tavistock Braves yesterday. The Braves crushed the Dorchester Dolphins 4-1 in Tavistock on Friday.
The Firebirds now sit on top of the Doherty Division standings with 52 points. They're followed by the Merchants with 50 points, the Navy Vets with 45 points, and the Applejacks with 40 points. The Dolphins sit in fifth place with 32 points, the Braves are in sixth place with 23 poitns, the Titans are in seventh place with 19 points, and the Hesepeler Shamrocks are in last place with 18 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans beat the Port Stanley Sailors 3-2 on Friday and they slipped past the Aylmer Spitfires 4-3 in overtime yesterday.
The Trojans are in sixth place in the Yeck Division standings with 36 points. They're behind the North Middlesex Stars with 37 points, the Sailors with 40 points, the Mount Brydges Bulldogs with 41 points, the Petrolia Flyers with 43 points, and the Exeter Hawks with 44 points.
