Unifor Local 636 is holding another information protest in front of Ernie Hardmans office in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Another information protest is happening in front of local MPP Ernie Hardeman's office.
VP of Unifor Local 636 Melissa Holden says the WSIB protest is for injured workers.
"What happens now is you go to work healthy and you leave unhealthy and no one helps you through that and the system that was built to help workers, actually helps the employer."
Holden explains why they wanted to focus on WSIB on Monday.
"The week of the 10th to the 14th is actually the week of action for injured workers, so that is why we picked that week."
Holden says they have been holding these protests across Oxford County ever since the Provincial Government introduced the Making Ontario Open for Business Act or Bill 47.
"We had 10 sick days, 2 of which were paid and the new legislation, they will be replaced with 3 sick days, 3 family responsibility days and 2 bereavement, all of which will be unpaid. They are also removing the right to refuse on a non scheduled work day with less than 96 hours notice, which makes it really hard for single parents and part time workers to plan their life around that."
Holden says they want to draw attention to Bill 147.
"We are drawing attention to the fact that he is attacking, not just Doug Ford but all of the PC's are attacking our health care and education system and we just want to draw attention to it and that Doug Ford ran on the campaign that he was for the people and attacking these rights to fair and equitable employment and safe working environments is not for the people, it's for big business."
The protest is happening today Monday December 10th at 4:00 p.m. in front of Ernie Hardeman's office.
