Antiviral drug will be prioritized for older unvaccinated individuals and immunocompromised people.
The province is prioritizing older, unvaccinated people, as well as immunocompromised individuals for the new Paxlovid COVID-19 treatment.
The first shipment of the pill arrived in Ontario last week.
Highest priority individuals include immunocompromised people aged 18 and older, unvaccinated Ontarians 60 and older and unvaccinated people aged 50 and older who also have at least one specific risk factor.
Also eligible are unvaccinated First Nation, Inuit and Metis individuals aged 50 and older.
Qualified individuals have to test positive for the virus first, and officials say PCR and rapid tests will be available at clinical assessment centres throughout Ontario.
However, not all of the 75 centres will necessarily have the drug in stock.
