Both Southwestern Public Health and land ambulance services will get funding. The Ontario government announced nearly $47-million for public health units, while the Oxford County land ambulance services will get over $7.8-million.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Provincial Government will be rolling out funding for the health care sector.
As of January 1st, 2024 the government will be restoring the nearly $47-million in provincial base funding for public health units, along with giving the local public health units with annual 1% increase over the next three years.
For Southwestern Public Health, which covers Oxford County, they will receive $110,900 in additional base funding, and $107,600 in one-time funding.
Oxford MPP, Ernie Hardeman says in a release, "this funding announcement is very good news for our community.
He adds, "It ensures our health and emergency agencies can adapt to the increasing needs of residents of Oxford."
In addition, the government is also providing funds through the annual Land Ambulance Service Grant.
The investment shows an increase of 6% over 2022 funding levels and will support ambulance services across the province.
For the County of Oxford, there will be $7,885,807 given for land ambulance services, which is up from $7,190,100 in 2022.
