NORWICH - The Township of Norwich is hosting a council meeting next month.
This will be a meeting regarding minor variances and zone changes at the Township level.
Mayor Larry Martin says the meeting will be open to the public.
"The neighbours are the people that are requesting the minor variances, the zone changes and they'll be more than likely interested in what the outcome is. It is a public meeting and anybody can be there, can be there and they will be given an opportunity to speak. And you don't necessarily have to a neighbour in order to speak it's just as long as you're at the meeting, and it's a public meeting, so anybody there can speak as well."
Mayor Martin adds they will also hold a separate town hall meeting earlier in the month. It will be held for the public, which will be the second of this year.
Although no agenda has been made, he says topics will be open for discussion.
"I think they just want to be heard and they want to know what's happening, and it's great to see the interest there. So I encourage people to come out, bring a friend and bring your concerns."
The last town hall meeting was held at the Norwich Community Centre in May where he says there was a misconception on how much it cost to build the fire hall in Burgessville.
Mayor Martin says someone thought the Township over spent by $600,000 on the new facility when it was actually $600,000 more than they had anticipated, based on the numbers they used from the fire halls in Norwich and Otterville.
The meeting starts at 7:00 pm on August 1st and it will be inside the Heritage Reform Church in Burgessvillle.
Meanwhile, the public meeting will be on August 13th at 9:00 am inside the council chambers behind the municipal office building on Airport Road.
