Recognition For Organizations In Zorra

Grant money was given out at the last council meeting for Zorra Township.

ZORRA - The Township of Zorra has handed out grants to some worthy organizations.

This is in part with the 2019 Budget Process that is still ongoing. Council considered grant and donation requests for local organizations and groups. Mayor of Zorra Township Marcus Ryan said that these groups must meet requirements.

"The grant money that was approved by council last week is grant money that is made available to community groups every year. There is a deadline in October that groups have to abide by and there's certain requirements they have to meet, in terms that they have financial accountability."

Ryan also stated that these groups do an amazing job making sure cemetery's are maintained.

"Most of them are things around cemetery maintenance. Groups that do an excellent work of maintaining the cemetery's in the township and frankly do a good or better of a job then ourselves at a cheaper price then we could do by ourselves."

The following is a list of other organizations that received grant money:

Kintore Methodist - $1,000
Townline Cemetery - $400
Wesley Cemetery - $900
St. Andrews Cemetery - $2,000
Gregory Cemetery - $350
St. John's Anglican Church - $800
Embro & Zorra Agricultural Society - $2,000
Thamesford Calithumpian - $1,700
