The Remembrance Day ceremony in Woodstock will be held indoors this year by invite only. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Rogers TV.
WOODSTOCK - Remembrance Day is going to look a lot different this year at the City of Woodstock.
The City has teamed up with the local Legion and the Oxford County Naval Veterans Association to host an indoor event at Goff Hall. The ceremony will be by invite only and is being done with the help of Southwestern Public Health.
Manager of Communications and Special Events for Woodstock Brad Janssen says they will be following all of the public health guidelines.
"We will adhere strictly to social distancing protocols, this was the safest alternative. Along those guidelines, we will have a limited audience of 50 and that was tasked to the good folks at the Legion and the Navy Club to handle the invites."
Janssen says the ceremony will look the same as it has in years past.
"We will have the laying of wreaths, our dignitaries will speak, Ron Findlater is the Master of Ceremonies once again and to reach as many people as possible, it will be broadcast live on Rogers TV or you can stream and you don't have to be a subscriber, you can stream on Rogers TV in real time."
Janssen says they will be taking several precautions to make sure everyone stays safe.
"The people that are invited will show up at the venue, they will be screened and all of the appropriate protocols that we have been going through at City Hall for the last number of months. We will be doing contact tracing as those invited guests enter the building."
Of course 104.7 Heart FM will be doing it's annual Remembrance Day presentation as well, so even if you are at the office, you can still turn the radio on and observe a moment of silence. You can find more information about the ceremony on the City of Woodstock web site.
