CANADA - We're about to find out who will be going on the Artemis Two mission to the moon.
Four astronauts will orbit around Earth before going into deep space to do a figure-8 manoeuvre around the moon before heading home.
The mission is expected to launch as early as November 2024 and it will be the first crewed mission to the moon since the final Apollo mission in 1972.
It will consist of three NASA astronauts and one from the Canadian Space Agency. There are only four active astronauts within the Canadian Space Agency; Jeremy Hansen, Jennifer Sidey-Gibbons, Joshua Kutryk, and David Saint-Jacques.
Hansen has a connection Oxford County. He was born in London and raised on a farm in Ailsa Craig, but lived in Ingersoll during his high school years.
The selected Canadian astronaut will become the first Canadian ever to venture around the dark side of the moon.
The announcement is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
