A Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Church of the Epiphany from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner this weekend.
It always provides a hot meal outside the Church of the Epiphany on Saturdays, and Rotary Member Doug Vincent says it's going to be a special indoor meal tomorrow because of the holiday.
"Anyone who is homeless or hungry in the community or maybe on their own over the weekend, they are more than welcome to join us between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m."
Vincent says it will be a traditional Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with turkey, potatoes, vegetables, and pie for dessert.
"I should thank Starbucks for donating the groceries. They have donated the turkeys and all of the fixings to help this project, so we want to give them credit for that. I also want to thank our friends at Epiphany Church, who week after week let us use their facilities."
With all of this being said, Vincent says Thanksgiving is about more than just the food.
"The Rotarians will be there helping serve, cook, and clean up. We also sit down and eat with these people to not only feed their stomachs but also feed their social well-being. A lot of these people just need a friend to talk to because they're lonely at times."
The Rotary Club usually serves about 75 to 125 hot meals on the average Saturday, so Vincent is expecting over 100 people tomorrow. The Rotary Club will also distribute groceries to those in need this Saturday as well.
