Crews will release odourless vapour to identify where rainwater can enter the sewer. It's not harmful to humans or pets.
WOODSTOCK - Don't be alarmed if you notice some vapour coming out of sewer manhole covers over the next few weeks.
Oxford County launched its sanitary sewer fog testing in the northwest end of Woodstock yesterday, so crews will be releasing the vapour in order to figure out where the rainwater can enter the sewer. This means you might also spot the vapour coming out of stormwater catch basins, the sewer plumbing stack at the top of your house, or the downspout at the side of your house.
All of the testing will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and you will get a notice in the mail if it's happening in your community. Sanitary sewer fog testing is part of the county's regular sewer maintenance and the work should finish on June 16th.
The vapour being released is odourless and it's not harmful to people or pets.
ATTN: WOODSTOCK - Fog testing is taking place in northwest Woodstock May 22 to June 16. The vapour has no odour, disappears in a few minutes, and is not harmful to people or pets. Learn more: https://t.co/jJezVjQmJ6 pic.twitter.com/Si1JTsdAH4
