Rain or snow expected for several parts of the province late Thursday into Friday
OXFORD/BRANT - A heads up if you plan to travel for the holidays.
A special weather statement has been issued for several parts of the province, including Oxford and Brant counties.
Environment Canada says starting late Thursday, there will be precipitation, but it's unknown if it will start as rain or snow. On Friday, many areas can expect rain and plummeting temperatures, which could result in flash floods. Areas east of the Great Lakes can also expect a few days of snow heading into the weekend.
Meanwhile, blizzard conditions are possible late Friday into the weekend for areas downwind of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
The weather office says there could be utility outages. However, exact details regarding wind speeds, precipitation types, and amounts remain uncertain.
If you do plan to head out for the holidays, you're encouraged to have an emergency plan, and carry an emergency kit with food, drinking water, and a first aid kit.
