Science and technology are only a few of the topics studied at STEM Camp. The camp has three weeks left in Woodstock before it wraps up.
WOODSTOCK- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are the subjects covered at STEM camp. The camp which is run with the help of Partner's in Research strives to draw more youth towards these fields of study. Each day campers focus on a topic in one of these areas. Camp Staff Dan Van Winden said that they also have an educational aspect to the camp program.
"Every day we have a call with an expert where were in video conference and the kids can ask them questions, generally its an expert for the topic we're studying that day and they can even ask them questions about how they can make their projects better and stuff like that."
"I think there's quite a bit of stuff that the kids are taking away from it.".
The past week of STEM camp had youth creating solar systems out of play doh and speakers out of paper plates, wire and a few magnets.
4 year old camper, Leonard said he was most excited about,"Lots of spirit awards if you've been good you get one".
The camp is run at South Gate Centre near Southside park and has three more weeks left until it wraps up.
