NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk County OPP is warning the public on the number of Fentanyl overdoses that have occurred in the area.
They're reminding everyone about the dangers of ingesting fentanyl in any way, even in very small quantities which can cause serious health issues including death.
OPP say in the last 12 hours there have been three investigations into suspected overdoses in Norfolk County.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says one person had died of a suspected overdose.
"A 37-year-old resident was pronounced deceased of a suspected overdose and two other other individuals, located in the Simcoe area and the Port Dover area, survived after being revived by the use of naloxone that was administered by the Norfolk County Paramedic Services."
He says you are gambling with your life when you are doing drugs like Fentanyl.
"Fentanyl is a highly dangerous, tasteless, odourless substance that can be lethal in very small amounts. It can be altered to any other colour and be added to other illicit drugs."
Sanchuk says the OPP supports the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Acts that provides protection for anyone at the scene of an overdose for charges related to possession.
Anyone who is looking for local support may contact their health care provider, the Health Unit of Haldimand/Norfolk, Community Addiction and Mental Health Services of Haldimand and Norfolk and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
