The museum launched its first online exhibit yesterday and it looks at the history of journalism in Tillsonburg, learning about the Tillsonburg News, Tillsonburg Liberal and the Tillsonburg Observer.
TILLSONBURG - The Annandale National Historic Site may be devoted to history, but that doesn’t mean staff can’t embrace new technology.
Yesterday the museum launched it's first ever online exhibition entitled “Hot off the Presses: The 100th anniversary of the The Tillsonburg News.”
You can check out the online exhibit here and go for a virtual tour. You will learn about the Tillsonburg News, as well as the Tillsonburg Liberal and the Tillsonburg Observer, two earlier newspapers which merged to create it.
Collections and Exhibitions Specialist Jen Gibson says they are excited to be able to share this with everyone online.
“This exhibition has something for everyone. There are historic programs, pamphlets and posters printed at the paper, photographs of the newspaper staff and equipment, and even tales of Tillsonburg’s first historian, who was an employee of The Tillsonburg News.”
Tillsonburg Mayor Stephen Molnar encourages everyone to check it out.
“The people of Tillsonburg are known for rising to any challenge put in front of them and I commend our museum staff for helping people learn about the history of journalism in our community during this difficult time of COVID-19 isolation."
