Tillsonburg firefighters were able to hand out 192 free combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for the holidays thanks to a donation from Enbridge Gas.
TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg Fire and Rescue Services, Enbridge Gas, the Fire Marshal's Fire Safety Council and Oxford County EMS are teaming up for Safe Community Zero Project.
The goal of the program is to bring fire and carbon monoxide related deaths down to zero. Before the holidays, Tillsonburg firefighters were able to hand out 192 free combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. The alarms were donated by Enbridge Gas.
Tillsonburg Fire and Rescue Services Fire Chief Shane Caskanette says the collaboration between Enbridge Gas Inc., the Fire Marshal’s Public Safety Council, Oxford County Paramedics and Tillsonburg Fire and Rescue Services helps ensure that smoke and CO alarms are distributed to those in need in our community.
"We are extremely excited to announce this collaborative initiative to increase public safety in our community. With the holiday season upon us, we remind all residents to ensure your smoke and carbon
monoxide alarms are functioning properly. Carbon monoxide exposures are most frequent in the winter months, with a high prevalence seen in December and January."
