We could experience a record-breaking daytime high tomorrow, but we also have some showers in the forecast.
OXFORD COUNTY - It should be a Halloween to remember in Oxford County.
Geoff Coulson, a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we could experience record-breaking temperatures tomorrow.
"We're forecasting 22 degrees right now and the current record for the Woodstock area for Halloween is 22.2 set back in 1950. So it should be very warm for the kids heading out the door with the temperatures still around 18 or 19 degrees in the late afternoon and early evening hours."
The average daytime high for late October is 11 degrees, which means the trick-or-treating temperature should be around 8 or 9 degrees. We experienced below-average temperatures in 2023 with a daytime high of 6 and a trick-or-treating temperature of around 4.
With all of this being said, Coulson does have a bit of bad news in his forecast for tomorrow.
"We're also looking at a front that's going to be approaching the area in the late afternoon and evening hours and that's likely going to kick off some shower activity. So it should be very warm but also on the damp side."
Coulson says the weather this week has been quite unusual, but everything should be back to normal after Halloween.
"A big area of high pressure to the south of the lower Great Lakes is acting like a big heat pump, bringing in a much warmer air mass from the American south and south-west. That has been our story over the past couple of days with record temperatures yesterday, record temperatures potentially for today and for Halloween, but that all comes to an end with the passage of this front Thursday evening."
