Truck & Tractor Pull Returns to Embro this Weekend

Tonight will be the farm stock competition and the modified truck and tractor pull will be taking place tomorrow.

EMBRO - You'll be able to hear the engines roar in Embro this weekend.

The Embro Truck and Tractor pull will kick off tonight with the farm stock competition before the modified trucks and tractors hit the track tomorrow.

Committee Member Virginia Janssen says you'll be able to spot some familiar and unfamiliar faces during tonight's event.

"Friday night is a lot of locals, but we do have pullers from as far away as Kerwood and Atwood. So we do pull lots of neighbourhood farmers, but we do have some stiff competition from other areas of the province as well."

The gates will open at 4:00 p.m. tonight, with the pull scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.

Janssen says tomorrow will feature a sanctioned pull with members of the Ontario Truck and Tractor Pull Association and the Southwestern Ontario Tractor Pullers Association.

"We will have everything from the mini-modified tractors all of the way up to super-modified trucks. We will have the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive trucks, hopefully some super semis this year, as well as all of the modified and multi-engine tractors."

The gates will open at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow with the pulling getting underway at 3:00 p.m.

There will be a pedal tractor pull for the kids both nights and they will have face painting on site tomorrow.

In terms of food, Annie's Fish and Chips will make the drive from Stratford to be there and Oxford Junior Farmers will be serving up beef and sausage on a bun. Those with a sweet tooth will also be able to buy some kettle corn and ice cream.

The popular 19-plus beer garden will also return this year, and there will be live music from Hickson's very own Trash Whippers tomorrow night.

Admission is $20 per day for adults or $35 for the whole weekend. Kids between the ages of 5 and 12 will cost $5 per day or $10 for the weekend, and those under the age of 5 will get in for free.

Janssen says all of the money raised will be put to good use.

"All of the proceeds from the event get donated back to the local community groups that help us run the event as well as other local causes such as hospitals, food banks, school nutrition programs, and lots of really great causes throughout Oxford County. So every dollar made is donated back to the community or used for other community projects through Oxford Junior Farmers."
