The Thames Valley District School Board is postponing all Grade 8 and Grade 12 Graduation and Commencement Ceremonies.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Thames Valley District School Board is postponing all Grade 8 and Grade 12 Graduation and Commencement Ceremonies.
Education Director Mark Fisher says this wasn't an easy decision.
"We recognize this is very disappointing news for students and families. But the safety and well-being of our students, families and staff remain our highest priority."
Director Fisher explained the decision was based on continued uncertainty over when the government will lift restrictions on gatherings of more than five people, and the time and resources needed to organize year-end ceremonies.
Where possible, Thames Valley schools will make every effort to hold Graduation and Commencement Ceremonies for students in the fall. Schools will communicate with students and families as soon as more information is available.
The Board will continue to work to find alternate ways to recognize students’ accomplishments and milestones that are in line with public health guidelines.
