14 and 16 year old siblings were fired after taking a religious holiday off
COURTLAND - A decision has been determined on whether two teens who were fired after recognizing a religious holiday will be compensated.
Over $26,000 will be awarded to the 14 and 16 year old as the tribunal agreed they were discriminated based on their creed. A vegetable operation outside of Tillsonburg, Country Herbs, has been deemed at fault as the siblings gave plenty of notice they would need the day off on May 29th. When the two returned to work the following day they were fired as the operation deemed they did not follow the proper attendance policy. $17,500 were awarded in damages with just over $8,600 given in lost wages.
