United Way Launches 12 Days of Giving

Over the next 12 days, United Way Oxford will provide you with 12 different ways you can give back to your community over the holidays.

OXFORD COUNTY - The 12 Days of Giving starts today!

Amanda Kreiger, the Resource Development Manager for United Way Oxford, says they're bringing back the holiday campaign for a third year.

"So for the 12 Days of Giving, the idea is that we give the community 12 different ideas of ways they can give back during the holiday season."

Today is Day 1, so United Way is encouraging everyone to listen to its Let's Talk Local podcast.

Day 2 asks everyone to donate some warm winter clothing to the Oxford County Community Health Centre and Day 3 encourages every to make a $75 donation towards free walk-in counselling.

Maglin Site Furniture sponsors the 12 Days of Giving and it matches all of the financial donations up to $10,000 throughout the campaign. Kreiger says this also applies to the Gift of Hope, where you can donate to United Way in someone else's name.

"If you have somebody that you would like to donate something for house warming gift, a teacher gift or a bus driver gift, you can give the Gift of Hope and we can send you a little card that you can send off and give to somebody."

Not all of the 12 Days encourage you to donate money or specific items. Kreiger says everyone will be asked to check out the Community United Conversation Series on Day 8.

"Let's learn more about the community needs. Let's watch a Community Conversation together so we can understand what's happening and what we need to work together for to fill those gaps and help the people who are falling through them."
