"She spent most of the proceedings actually staring at us, making eye contact with almost everybody who was actually sitting in the family section."
WOODSTOCK - The woman accused of killing 8 seniors in Woodstock and London made a brief in court appearance today.
Elizabeth Wettlaufer was wearing a white blouse with black pants and zip up black jacket.
She had her hair done and was wearing make-up and when she first came into the court room it appeared as though she was staring at the gallery, including the victims family members. Her case was delayed until May 12th to speak to for another video appearance.
Today the crown and defence will meet for a judicial pretrial today. They were supposed to set a trial date today, however they need to find out exactly how long the trial will be before they can do that and they expect that a couple of judicial pre-trial's will be needed. One of the victims son was in attendance this morning, Arpad Horvath Junior lost his father Art Senior and tells Heart FM it was tough seeing Wettlaufer in court this morning.
"I don't know why somebody does things like this and why somebody can not show an ounce of compassion or conviction or anything like that, 8 human lives, 8."
Family members and friends of the victims in the case have been coming to a lot of the meetings. Laura Jackson was in attendance today. She is a close personal friend of Maurice "Moe" Granat who is one of the alleged victims in the Wettlaufer case. She says Wettlaufer was staring them down during the entire proceeding.
"She spent most of the proceedings actually staring at us, making eye contact with almost everybody who was actually sitting in the family section so their was a number of us who just stared back."
Andrea Silcox is another family member of one of the alleged victims. She says it was really tough to see Wettlaufer in court this morning.
"Honestly she looks like she is doing pretty good, she's got her hair done, all prettied up, must be nice, truthfully that's what I thought and I thought how dare you walk in here so smug after supposedly murdering my father and other people to."
Wettlaufer is facing 8 counts of first degree murder, four counts of attempted murder and 2 counts of aggravated assault. The alleged aggravated assaults and two of the possible attempted murders happened at the Carressant Care in Woodstock where she is accused of killing 7 people.
