OXFORD COUNTY- The Rural Oxford Economic Development Corporation has selected a female entrepreneur to lead the Corporation.
Owner of a business consulting firm, Bernia Wheaton is taking the helm as Economic Development Officer.
Wheaton is an entrepreneur with an extensive background in generating economic development in rural communities, including over 16 years of experience in economic development.
Chair of ROEDC, Don McKay calls Wheaton's experience a 'tremendous asset.'
In her past role as inaugural Economic Development Officer at the County of Perth, Wheaton garnered attention for reducing unemployment rates among other accomplishments.
As Economic Development Officer for the County of Oxford, Wheaton will be responsible for promoting business growth within OxfordCounty.
Wheaton says she is excited to build on OxfordCounty's brand and to take advantage of the opportunities within the municipalities. Chair of the Search Committee, Jim Pickard said Wheaton will be responsible for, "promoting business growth and relocation opportunities throughout the municipalities of rural Oxford, supporting job creation, improving tax assessment, and showcasing rural Oxford as a place to do business."
A new housing development is being proposed for Lakeview Drive, Council will have its first look at a Revenue Budget for 2025, and the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan will move forward.
