ONTARIO - Ontario Premier Doug Ford says his party will introduce legislation that prohibits any employer from banning their staff from wearing a poppy during Remembrance Week.
The announcement comes after outrage from Canadians this morning regarding a decision from the US based grocery chain Whole Foods. An employee at the chain in Ottawa was told recently they couldn't wear a poppy because of the companies updated uniform policy.
Whole Foods is mostly based out of the US, but does have 14 locations in Canada.
The poppy came out in 1921 and it was symbolic gesture to honour those who have sacrificed their lives, not only in the great war but all the wars and all the veterans or solidier's that are currently serving in overseas deployments right now.
We will introduce legislation that prohibits any employer from banning their staff from wearing a poppy during Remembrance Week. #lestweforget #onpoli
